Upcoming Calendar of Poker Events
As you all know I have been putting together some special poker events for all of you good people at LP. I just wanted to take a minute to post my plans for the rest of 2008 and 2009: August 2008: Next month we will host the first ever Gorgeous Ladies of Poker event at LP. G.L.O.P. as it is called will be a bracelet event where the winner will receive and online award bracelet on their member profile. For examples of the award see r8rcrzy (Phil A) and Coldcase profile pages. This is a very prestigious award ladies and there is still time to sign up so please don’t delay. In addition to the bracelet, the G.L.O.P. champion will be called upon to captain the ladies’ team at the October Battle of the Sexes. October 2008: Battle of the Sexes. It was requested and it sounds like a great time so I’ve decided to make this my next special event. This one day event will pit a team of ladies captained by the G.L.O.P. champion versus a team of men captained by the Luvin Poker Invitational Champion Lucas (Coldcase). In order to make this event work we will need an even number of male and female competitors. I will create a separate thread for this event. If you are interested please post there. November/December 2008: I would like to make a trial run of Team Play at this time. I will need at least 9 volunteers to be team captains and each team will consist of 3 to 5 players. Once the captains and players are established we will be hosting a live draft via Paltalk to fill the teams. One of the few things that I did not like about PR team play was that it allowed players to stack their teams with top talent. Having a live player draft will theoretically “spread the wealth” of talent across the nine teams and make for a very fun & competitive series of team events. Ultimately I would love to get 9 captains and 36 players to fill nine 5 player teams. That may be a little optimistic on my part but we’ll see how it goes. In addition I’ve already been in contact with some team play folks from Poker Stars and (assuming LP Team Play is a success) I will be setting up matches against teams from the PS league in the future. January 2009: I want to open the New Year with another Heads-Up Challenge, this time with 32 players. The format will be similar to the 16 player Challenge we ran in May which saw Phil A (r8rcrzy) take home the first ever LP Special Events Bracelet. If the LP group trip to Vegas is in January, I will push back the Challenge to February 2009. March 2009: I am considering a MTT shootout event for March. Right now the only shoot out event’s I’ve found on FT are 2 player heads-up matches. I’ll need to work out the details on this one but it will consist of 1 round of qualifying for 27 players and 1 final table of 9 players. More to follow. April 2009: April will mark the 2nd Annual Luvin Poker Invitational. This event was very popular in June/July and I expect to have more entrees for the 2009 edition. Invites will be based on participation in 2008 Leader Board Events and LP Special Events. Note the name “Invitational”. I will apologize now to all the people I will piss off when this event rolls around and you do not get the invite you are expecting. If you want an invite in 2009 all you have to do is play in 2008. It is that simple. June 2009: HORSE Championsip. Yes HORSE. If it is good enough for the WSOP, it should be good enough for LP. Want to test your all around poker skills? Then HORSE is the way to go. I just wanted to mention that every Special Event I organize will have entry fees involved. These fees are paid in addition to any tournament fees that Full Tilt requires. The minimum entry fee will be $5.00. I will probably keep the maximum entry fee to around $25. For team play I am projecting $100 per team but a final decision has not been made on that. In order to continue supporting LP, 20% of all entry fees will be donated to the site and 80% will be given back to the players.
