yes, i've been hearing about tons of beats recently. my son has lost with a full house twice - both times to quads. i've been playing almost every day for two years and i think that has happened to me twice....poor kid, twice in two days and it cost him a combined $150.

question.. are you calling with A5 hoping for a flop just like that? What do you do if an ace hits? Do you fold to a bet or reraise? IMO i fold A5 to any raise, i have playing A-rag and you are putting yourself in just a marginal position. I mean it sucks you lost to a higher to pair on the turn but when you got your money in it was with the worse hand so there should really be no complaining.

Whatever happened preflop ... it was a min raise, and I often play my connectors.

But I bet the pot with my 2 pairs and this guy called me with top pair and hits his second pair, higher than mine ... that sucks!!!

Between A5 and A6, I play A5 anytime ...

Problem is the action after flop ... I mean I was 70% fav ... so betting the pot to steal it was a good thing to do. I didn't weant the diamonds to come neither ...

Just from an unbiased point of view...

The guy was the shortstack at the table, you were the big stack...

Your pot raise preflop could indicate anything, depending on how you had been playing. AK, TT, 89, KQ...

your pot bet after that flop could just be a continuation bet, as the chip leader on a seemingly junk board.

Seeing as it was a junk board, and seeing as he was the shortstack, he must have been drawing a line in the sand at that point. His AQ could easily have been the best hand at that point. Obviously it wasn't... but I'm trying to see this through his perspective. Maybe he had been getting card dead for a while, and he finally picks this hand up, and finds the chip leader ramming the pot on a junk board... as I said, maybe he just decided it was time to make a stand. The only thing I don't understand is why he didn't just push all in at that point. Quite obvious after putting in like 80% of his chips, he's not folding to any bet on the turn.

The river, well... it happens. He had "outs", isn't that what you told me twice last night? just messing, by the way! I play the LP tourneys for fun... if I win, cool, if I lose, no big deal...........

1400 was a huge bet to call for him ... and this a $24 buy-in not a $1 buy-in ... This was a suicide ...

So let put this the other way .. the guys called me because he's an idiot donk!

(I had my revenge later in the tourney, I hit my Q on the flop with QQ and went all-in on him knowing he'll call ... and he had nothing else than AK, took him out and got my chips back lol)

It definitely was a huge bet to call... either he was frustrated at that point and was just going to call any bet, or he had decided that your range of hands as chipleader was so great, there was a greater chance his AQ was the best hand at that point than the worst hand...

P.S. Those calls happen in ALL ranges of tournaments... $1, $24, $69, whatever... there's plenty of donks that just have a lot of money or have watched miracle cards hit on the river on TV one too many times. All you can do when they hit is say nice hand, and move on.......

Yeah outs are part of the games ... You need to play yours outs when you don't have a made hand, or when you know your behind in the hand ... the idea is to win the pot ... without committing suicide

You are right after the turn he was at a point of no return ... but after the flop ...

No hard feeling about yesterday ... I hope so.
