This hand has been bothering me for a couple of days.. Did I play it right, or did my opponent?
Full Tilt 9 handed NL table (10/25 cents) I am in the BB with starting hand 6 8 offsuit. Opponent UTG bets 25 cents (stack of $35.00). The action folds to me and I check Flop: K 6 8 Opponent bets 25 cents…. I have 2 pair and I put my opponent on something like KQo –K9 suited I have 2 pair and I think I’m ahead. I figure to try and take the hand there and then (my stack is around $7) I raise his bet to $3. He pushes all in ! What to do ???. I am fairly pot commited and am thinking he’s trying to scare me down. I decide to call He has K 10 offsuit (high Pair) vs my 2 pair Turn is a J River is a J He wins the pot with better 2 pair I still think I made the right play, and that he got lucky. What do you think ? |

Sure, he got lucky. But considering the stack sizes and how many outs he had, he didn't make a horrible play either. Just happens sometimes...

The outs he had? Going to the turn he had 2 kings and 3 10s. Then after the turn he had 2 kings, 3 10s and 3 jacks not to mention he could have been outkicked if gort had KJ, KQ, AK (AK is obvious he didnt have though b/c he would have raised). Gort could have easily had K6 or K8 b/c he was in the BB. That was a horrible play by him but he just got lucky

Hmmm, I still disagree. Top pair average kicker, only can lose 20% of his stack at a very low limit game, not a bad call. Tournament? Fold absolutely. But there, no problem with all in push. Plus, the $3 bet with $4 behind will make most people think that he's trying to buy the pot. There was only $.85 in the pot at that point, so $3 looks a bit suspicious. Your thoughts?

I was also thinking, why wouldn't you have at least the max buy in in front of you there? I assume $25 was the max and gort had $7; I know for a fact that you're basically putting a bullseye on yourself when you check into a game with less than a max buy in.

It was a seven doll hair bet, does it matter how big anyones stack was.
Its a cash game, stacks can be replenished. I hate to say it but gort was well and truly sucked off, to be fair to the big stack he didnt know what gort had im sure if he knew he would have folded after gorts raise. |

i know his stack was big and it could be replenished but i just dont see how it is not a horrible play. Gort is in the BB so he could have ANYTHING including, 6-8, K10-AK ( could have played it tricky, you just dont know) 66, 88, K6 or K8. That is ALOT of hands that he cannot beat.
