I guess true discipline requires those kind of laydowns, I think I learned a pretty good, and relatively inexspensive lesson.

Man, this one is still bothering me. Last night in the $55 tournament, 19 people enter, so nice payout for 4 people.

Anyway, we get to the final 9, I have about 6500 in chips, average stack. I get AQ, call 300 blind, button calls, SB calls, BB raises to 900, I call, button calls, SB folds.

Flop Ad 8d 4c, BB bets 600, I raise to 2200 (pretty sure he has jj or qq, common play for him), button calls, BB calls.

Turn 8s, BB bets 2600, I go all in for 3625 total, button calls, BB folds!

River 6d, I show aces, button shows jq diamonds for rivered flush.

He called down every bet, raise, reraise with nothing and rivered a flush, not even a nut flush, plus an ace and two 8s are on the board, what the FUCK???

YUK!
He must have been the daddy and thought the pot odds made it worth a punt?

There were 95,000 chips in play; this pot was right at 20,000 chips. He was either 2nd or 3rd in chips going into this hand with 9 at the table. I don't know about pot odds, I think he should've been out preflop with the raise and call in front of him.

exactly the sort of thing that makes poker so frustrating sometimes. why does it seem that bad play is so often rewarded with good luck??

It's worse when you know the odds and know that he only has a certain amount of outs, etc. If we're heads up there all in, that's a horrific beat as is. But with all of the bets and raises he smooth called and considering the board post-flop? That just made it exponentially worse. I hope I stop whining about this soon.

Holy shit, I just put $100 in pokerstars. Sit at a 6 handed .25/.50 nlhe table. 3 hands in, I get 88, 3 to the flop, 8 J 4, nice. 2 bets in front of me, I raise 2 callers, turn 4, same bets, river 2, I bet 10, 1 fold, 1 all in, I call he shows JJ for a bigger boat, slowplayed jj, i don't think i've seen that.

Then, 10th hand in, I get 1010 vs. 66, guy flops JJ6 and takes my other $50.

10 hands and that's what I ran into. WHAT THE FUCK?

So, I've taken some time off poker, thinking it would give me new lease on playing. A lot of time really.

Yeah, not so much.
