The media is in the tank for Obama

Bob Kerrey, the former Democratic senator from Nebraska thinks The New York Times is in the tank for Obama.

Quote:
Kerrey, who's now president of The New School, claimed that "the big unreported story" of the election cycle "is the tremendous spending advantage Obama's got. If everything else is equal, and it's not equal in this race, but if everything else is equal, McCain hasn't got a chance."

Asked why he thinks the story isn't getting adequate coverage, he responded, "There's a liberal bias. There's a preference for Obama and it's getting underreported as a result."

Then Kerrey got specific.

"If this thing was running the other way, if Obama was taking the public money and McCain had opted out and raised $150 million in September, do you think The New York Times would have an editorial against it?
Even the Russians have noticed...lol...

A Russian elections committee sees major bias by the US media in this year's national elections.

Quote:
Russia's Central Elections Committee has also assigned its Centre for the Study of Election Technology to review the U. S. election campaign.

A preliminary report prepared by the group, after studying U. S. media coverage on the NBC, CBS and ABC television networks since September, has concluded Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential candidate, has a "hidden advantage."

A preliminary report obtained by the Russian daily online newspaper Kommersant concludes the U. S. television networks devoted more time to Republican candidate John McCain, but "the material that makes up that time difference can be assessed as negative."

The Russian study also said Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential pick, has been subjected to more criticism than her Democratic counterpart, Senator Joe Biden.

It adds that when the presidential candidates' platforms are described, Mr. Obama's is described last, to make it look better, and when platforms are compared, "Obama's is presented preferable."

The observations appear to ape western criticisms of Russia's elections in which international observers have complained Russia's television networks are overwhelmingly pro-Kremlin and offer unbalanced and unfair coverage of opposition candidates.
this is not exactly a news flash for anyone who has been paying attention

If you control the media, you're ok ... Russians must know something about that ...

As well as Italia, who's premier is the owner of the number 1 private TV channel (so now he controls both private and public channels ... )

Oh and he's also a well known porno producer or something like that if I recall, plus a well respected godfather of the mafia!! Viva Italia

I noticed that "FOX NOISE" wasn't mentioned in there anywhere. I've been watching them quite a bit lately and now I see who's actually running the McCain campaign.

"No Spin Zone" my lilly white ass!!!

I really don't give a crap which way any of them "lean". I watch Fox and all I see them do is show 10 second "sound bites" that distort the truth, and mislead the public. Where as I see the same story on MSNBC and they show the "WHOLE" video, or play the "WHOLE" recording.
So MSNBC is more "liberal" and leans to the left. So what? They report the whole story truthfully. FOX on the other hand realizes that the only way they can combat the truth and at the same time make their candidate look good, is by telling outright lies. That's not journalism, and you know it.

Once you know which wing is which media, you know what to expect ...

Nothing to do about that, I guess!

Media's Presidential Bias and Decline

Quote:
The traditional media are playing a very, very dangerous game -- with their readers, with the Constitution and with their own fates.

The sheer bias in the print and television coverage of this election campaign is not just bewildering, but appalling. And over the last few months I've found myself slowly moving from shaking my head at the obvious one-sided reporting, to actually shouting at the screen of my television and my laptop computer.

But worst of all, for the last couple weeks, I've begun -- for the first time in my adult life -- to be embarrassed to admit what I do for a living. A few days ago, when asked by a new acquaintance what I did for a living, I replied that I was "a writer," because I couldn't bring myself to admit to a stranger that I'm a journalist.
Quote:
But nothing, nothing I've seen has matched the media bias on display in the current presidential campaign.

Republicans are justifiably foaming at the mouth over the sheer one-sidedness of the press coverage of the two candidates and their running mates. But in the last few days, even Democrats, who have been gloating over the pass -- no, make that shameless support -- they've gotten from the press, are starting to get uncomfortable as they realize that no one wins in the long run when we don't have a free and fair press.
Quote:
The absolute nadir (though I hate to commit to that, as we still have two weeks before the election) came with Joe the Plumber.

Middle America, even when they didn't agree with Joe, looked on in horror as the press took apart the private life of an average person who had the temerity to ask a tough question of a presidential candidate.

So why weren't those legions of hungry reporters set loose on the Obama campaign? Who are the real villains in this story of mainstream media betrayal?

The editors. The men and women you don't see; the people who not only decide what goes in the paper, but what doesn't; the managers who give the reporters their assignments and lay out the editorial pages.

this statement is so wrong on a couple of levels.

first of all, the media should be as impartial as is possible. that's their job - they are not supposed to be advocates.

secondly, many - possibly most people - do not view so critically as to determine bias. and even when the masses figure out what is going on, does it matter?? advertising still works even though the objective is obvious. why do you think that is?? why does any one buy products like the SHAM-WOW!! even when the word sham is included in the name??

the media has a responsibility to be fair and objective - instead they are abusing their power over those who are unable or don't take the time to sift through the BS.

You impress me Frank! You are so certain that you can distinguish between lies and truth, you are so certain that your views are the correct ones that you refuse to listen to counter-arguments.

sure they do - when it benefits their agenda.

i have not seen any Olberman rants about the media running with fake stories to paint a false narrative about political rallies.

oh wait...Olby is not gonna go off on himself
