Considering pre-election I remember some talk about the candidates being asked what they'd do re the financial crisis and neither had much to say, I feel sure the markets would have responded similarly with whmsoever was elected.

Hasn't it been that way for years now?

Of course you have the die-hard lefties and righties but the marketing strategies are to get the floating voters.

EXACTLY....like I said before, just a bunch of lemmings riding a popular bandwagon, that's it.

what makes you feel sure?? i can show you (and did in several links) many opinions that Obama's plans were less business and investment friendly than that other guy's plans.

does less business/investment friendly = immediate plunge in stock prices??

who knows, but like i said before the markets are NOT reacting with unlimited optimism in the 2 days after the election are they?? as for right now the U.S. markets are down another 4% today. world markets usually play follow the leader unless other forces come in to play.

it may very well be true that the markets would have reacted the same way if mccain had won, but i'd like to know what makes you so sure?? to me it is unknowable, and i'm never sure about things that are unknowable.

end the two party system??

to do that requires an end to making candidates financially dependent on the big 2.

doing that probably means acting in ways that free speech advocates don't like. what is more important though - the freedom of candidates to spend $750 million on political ads or fixing the system??

At this point, the finances of politics have ensured that there will not be a viable third pary in this country for a very long time. Ron Paul did have a really impressive fundraising effort, though.

What makes me sure?... You can read Doug, I stated why I "felt" that way... don't you ever have feelings that may or may not have come from something concrete (like I feel I am going to be lucky at cards tonight... that's def not concrete). My "feeling" came from a little bit of remembered info. It certainly does not make it fact, and to be honest it is neither here nor there cos it is something that will never be proved.
