I don't want to put words in her mouth, but what I think she means is that some of the information you mention is not widely accepted as fact. Right or wrong is not what is important in some people's minds, it's only a "fact" if it is "peer reviewed". Now I understand the value of that process, but it is not without it's flaws - mainly being that anything outside the sphere of conventional wisdom is met with a high degree of skepticism.

I challenge Jimbo to prove that CO2 or any other man made activity has CAUSED global warming and WILL lead to the destruction of the planet. In short, he can't - but even though it is not proven, it has gained acceptance. Is it a fact because people believe it to be so, or is it a fact only if it can be proven?? If Belief is all it takes, then perhaps we need to revisit the many "God" threads and look at them in a different light.

What makes a source questionable and what makes a source non questionable? Unless your an expert that topic, than how can you call a source questionable. Any news on CNN and MSNBC is questionable. of course they have 1 or 2 facts in their story, but they leave out any Fact that spins the story out of their veiw point. So...any news, or storys on those networks are questionable.

I would like to know what makes the sources questionable...please point out some FACTS that makes the source questionable.. not someones opinion, but I would love to see FACTS.....

Excellent question - someone who is a respected authority on a subject is not a questionable source of information - they are a good source of information. Someone who is not an expert on a subject would be a questionable source. Someone who is an expert on a subject but is widely disputed by other experts in his field is not a reliable source. A neutral party is usually a better source than someone who benefits from a particular view (for example, using a scientific survey that was paid for by the tobacco industry as a source on how toxic cigarette smoke is is questionable).

Another excellent point. Watching a news story with a critical eye and doing your own research is highly recommended for getting good information.

You don't have to be an expert on a subject to call sources questionable, but you do have to do some research and figure out who's telling you what and if they are a good source of information.
