Step #1: Visit Europe
Step #2: Realize that Americans are given the choice between conservatism and arch-conservatism

Actually, many Republicans are too far left for me. I like freedom. Guilty as charged.

Then you're probably much more Liberterian than Republican. Especially considering what passes for a Republican these days .

good point...what DO republicans stand for these days??

or dempcrats for that matter - both political parties seem to be controlled by extreemists at either end of the spectrum IMO. the religion at all costs righties and the anti-capitalist lefties.

I do agree with most, but not all, of what the Libertarians stand for.

Woo hoo! In November, I get to choose between a tax-and-spend Democratic party and a borrow-and-spend Republican Party that are both at the beckon call of the same special interest groups! God bless America!

Campaigning for president and BEING president, IMO, are two VERY different things! Obama is charming, handsome, and very good at "schmoozing" the populous. McCain is grizzled, not too attractive, and doesn't have a great ability to sway voters. But if we have to choose........IMO, foreign policy will become the biggest issue facing this president (economy 2nd), that said, I believe the experience of McCain is the more beneficial "ability" to posess at this juncture in U.S. history. O.K., go ahead........let the dogs out!
