Dear Americans: Your foreign policies need a major overhaul.

I think a guy who is is charming, handsome, and very good at "schmoozing" is exactly what you need, not another John Wayne type!

He is not president yet so HE STRONGLY CONDEMNED the outbreak of violence. He also stated that: "Georgia's territorial integrity must be respected. "

then he puts out this:

"I condemn Russia's aggressive actions and reiterate my call for an immediate ceasefire... Russia must stop its bombing campaign, cease flights of Russian aircraft in Georgian airspace, and withdraw its ground forces from Georgia."

In my mind that is not a flip flop. It is merely an extension of his initial
response. What a convenient word "Flip Flop" is!

What exactly do you guys want: Posturing and aggressiveness so that you
might enter into a war with Russia over Georgia? Shit happens around the world because we as humans are not progressive thinkers. Georgia is guilty, those little Russian enclaves are guilty, Russia is guilty.

As long as there is not another Hitler out there, condemn the action and let it be! Quebec wants to separate. You want McCain to threaten war with Quebec if they take up arms against the rest of Canada?

I know full well that armed conflicts are more about future repercussions
then initial and present reasons. Fuckers out there are into 'cleansing.'

BTW...just because a *liberal minded* soul has vibrancy does not mean
he is only a good schmoozer and liar. The rock hard logic of old school American foreign policy should step aside and make way for the liquid
logic of an Obama to have a chance at fixing dumb neo con gaffs!

I love how changing your opinion based on new developments and information is now given the negative label of 'flip-flopping'.

Maybe we should all just think like our current president and ram home our initial action plan no matter how badly misinformed, outdated, or outmoded it is.

Just a point of information that I think should be noted - Georgia were the ones initiating hostilities, not Russia. Of course, there are those who say Russia will take this opportunity to try to expand again. Not to mention that this is a complicated conflict, with a history of genocide and ethnic cleansing dating back to the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Another point of interest - this is also based on oil. There is a pipeline in Georgia that has strong international impact:
Quote:
Georgia is home to an oil pipeline and a soon-to-be-completed gas pipeline, which connect the West to Central Asia, home to the world's second-biggest reserves. With the pipeline, the West has access. Without it, Russia controls those resources. Georgia's president, Mikhail Saakashvili, is pro-West, but a pro-Moscow replacement could cut the pipelines.
I think your presidential candidates should be well-informed on this issue, as it has the potential to have serious repercussions. The real joke here, though, is the US condemning Russia for invading another country without UN sanctions. Good one, Bushie!

Doing more research, I should say technicallly Georgia started the aggressions. It appears that Russia has been maneuvering Georgia into this position for some time now. It is indeed a complicated conflict.
