correct. legality and morality do not always mesh. that is an unfortunate reality in our world. but without "men" (government) and society making disctinctions between what is considered "legal" and "illegal" (laws), what do we have?

we certainly would have no civilizations.

I knew what you were speaking of because you have made your view clear on the subject. I just don't believe more lives have been lost in wars, throughout history, in the name of God than for any other reason, period.

I don't think there have been more commonly defined murders in the name of God, either, for that matter.

It is a common argument, usually used by non-believers against believers. I have researched the facts, and I don't believe it is true, no matter which view you take. I am willing to look at any evidence that proves I am wrong, though.

That might be correct in today's societies, I do not have the knowledge to contradict or to agree with you. But historically major and minor religions had multiple gods/goddesses: Sun god, moon god, god of beauty, god of hunting etc etc etc... many of these religions may still exist. I believe that the major religions of today have one "God", perhaps just not the majority.

Most of those religions have long since been gone. Greek paganism believed in multiple Gods, and Ancient Egypt believed in multiple Gods. I'm not sure if that practice is still over in Egypt? You also have religions like Wicca and Hinduism which also have multiple gods. Like I said, most religions have only one god, or at least one main god with little dieties underneath. But, that's why I used the word "most"

If I'm remembering correctly, Wicca has a "god" and a "goddess", which in return can manifest themselves in other forms of dieties.

However, in these types of religions (again, I say most, because it doesn't always apply) typically worship one diety in particular, and all the rest of the gods are below the "head god".
