I say get the hell out! Even Dick Cheney in an interview 8 years ago said that a war in the Middle East is a war that will be almost impossible to win.

If I can find the interview, i will post.

The interesting thing is that there was broad support for "going in" to Iraq so the fact that the U.S. is there can't be put entirely on the shoulders of Bush unless you believe this "moron" was able to fool all of his "much smarter" opposition.

Reality is that Bush and most of our elected representatives in Washington wanted a show of strength so badly that they did not do sufficient homework on what is now considered faulty intelligence and did what they thought would result in a nice bump in the "popularity" polls.

Nobody really thought it out beyond going in and kicking ass. Then what??? Well several years later the "then what" is our currently reality. What will the reality be 3 or 4 years from now?? One thing is pretty sure, that bringing a semblance of democracy and stability to the area will not happen quickly or be easy. It may not EVER happen. And even if it does will it be worth the cost??

The dilemma now is really between staying and leaving. I can only hope that more rational thought is given to the consequences of this decision than was given at the time this entire mess was started.

This is an interesting topic Chandra. My belief is that our government would not "fix" any of these "problems" with money "saved" by pulling out of Iraq. Education and Immigration are exactly what the government wants already....the unemployment rate is quite low actually...and healthcare issues are so complex that you have to ask yourself "do I want this government that fucked up Iraq messing with healthcare??"

I'm gonna sound like motherfunky here ....but the real problem is that there is a disconnect between the government doing what is best for the people/country and doing what is best for themselves/ruling elite. Until that little problem is solved, don't get your hopes up at seeing any more "fixes" than are necessary to maintain the status quo of everyone blissfully going about their business. Besides the "fixes" are probably not what you have in mind anyway but more along the lines of making people easier to "control".

1. Yes you do sound like me.. you're even starting to look like me!
2. It wasn't "faulty inteligence" it was clearly deliberately misleading and written to order.
3. The answer to our problems is simple we make sure our politicians work for us and are paid by us that includes "the England" aswell as the US. Until we pay them properly and ban them from being paid by anyone else foriegn or domestic, our problems will persist.

BTW the post by Janus was pretty rank imo. I say fuck it send Janus to "the Iraq" dressed as the pope such as.. wearing stockings and a fuck u raghead T-Shirt, err for our childrens future.

Hi all
Just food for thought we in Canada have the same basic problem.

2 opposing partys that are both corupt to some extent.
Both have good ideas but once in power have to fight the extisting regime (employees of the goverment) to impliment change.

Remember People
Corruption starts at the top and moves down. Any politician that get elected will become corrupted by the system.

Only way to change this is a revolution ( grass roots moverment with out weapons maybe ) from the people by the people for the people

Our two countries have been run into the ground by special interest groups that have one thing on their minds. me me me me

So until we the people stand up and say NO we get what we should expect and deserve.

Stand for nothing and we get nothing in return.

Follow the pack and we fall off the cliff with them or will be pushed by the masses behind us.

We are all brain washed to some degree by the media. A free thinking society is almost impossible in todays times. Our education system is flawed so our children have no chance. hence we are flawed in our thinking from the same education system.

I believe we could fix our system but each and everyone of us would have to pay a price we are not willing to pay.

Financial as well as physical

I respect all of the opinions everyone has made but we all need to rethink our motives behind them. Is it for us or for the greater good of all the people.

We will always have the poor and the rich.
So the middle class will need to pay the price of change and
are we willing is my question??????

I blame FDR for the fall in america's self control. He was the first president to whore himself to the masses, and unfortunately, he was not the last.

You think you can dismiss it so easily?

It's NOT a war...It's a travesty. A Royal Scam!!!

It's a fookin waste of precious lives.

A dumb fucking act by an uninformed, insensitive, bull headed and
arrogant administration.

See it the way you want....It's what is painfully obvious to me!!

CC the freedom you have today in Canada cost, alot of lifes to give it to u. Don't waste it thinking that Freedom is FREE.

Canadians have faught alot of battles and lots of TRUE Canadians died for the belief that everyone is entitled to be FREE. Who are you to judge Bush or any American President. You sit on the side lines and make judgement calls. I would love to see you make a decision that affects millions of life like the President of the United States of America makes for his country and for the world. Everyone makes mistakes , yes even you but yours are trival and don't matter in the big picture. He makes decisions that costs lives in the name of Freedom and to Free others from slavery of religion and sex type (being a woman in a muslum country). U sit there in your pretty house far from the war and have never had your right to speak to travel or protest taken away from you and u have no idea that someone died so u could be so opinionated. Be very thankful you live in a FREE country
