A Moron(or group of) created this Oxymoron
A big headline in todays news states that the candidates running for the GOP promise to fix Michigan's,shit economy.
Does any one believe that any Republican can or will do anything to help a States economy? Even if they could just what wood (as in hard-on) they do? |

since the "other" political party was in charge while the economy in Michigan was going down the toilet it seems like a reasonable ploy to me.
not that the promise of a fix will be much different than most BS campaign promises..... |

How about a promise to have American automotive manufacturers NOT produce crappy-ass cars that nobody wants? (excluding SUV's and light trucks, of course)

1) the burden of retirement and benefit costs for former employees. i've read somewhere that $1500 of the cost of every car made by one of the big three automakers goes to pay these costs. 2) the tax burden on U.S. automakers. i keep hearing that 23% of the cost of goods is due to various taxes incurred along the way...if this is true i wonder how it stacks up to cars manufactured elsewhere. i have no clue how close those figures are ($1500/23%) but am just wondering if these costs (that have nothing to do with product development and manufacture) result in attempts at cost savings in areas that effect product quality??? |

Those costs certainly don't help, but every analyst on the planet diagnoses the same problem for the Big 3... poor design.

She has lowered the debt by 4 billion and this year will cut taxes for 7 out of 10 business that make a pledge to reduce outsourcing. So if you suggest she and the Democrat Governor from 83 to 90 were and are the reason Detroit and Michigan can't get their shit together like the lLiberal Western States that have powerhouse economies like Washington State, where they produce more than most all bible belt states put together .... |

I was not simply speaking of the governorship when i mentioned democrat control nicki...
I live in one of the most liberal areas of the country (in the same congressional district as Berkeley and Oakland), where it is very hard to find even moderate politicians...and i see sooo many things fucked up that it's not even funny. Despite huge windfall "profits" in the form of skyrocketing property tax revenues the past 10 years, most local governments are broke. Who did that?? And what is there to show for it besides bloated government payrolls and ineffective government programs?? The liberals here that so care about the poor pass regulations that drive up already unaffordable home prices and leave most working people with 90 minute drives to work AND adjustable mortgages that have them now facing foreclosure. Let's not even talk about the fiscal crisis in California where our deficit is second only to the U.S. government. Who runs the state of California?? (despite a few RINO governors) Oh, and for the record once again...I am not a republican. I'm registered independent (because i believe the political structure is so fucked up) and lean conservative with libertarian tendencies. |
