Poker books?

Hello all! I have a few questions about poker books. I primarily do 5$ SNG NL HE and have done decent (50$ now at 318$). I feel my game has stopped progressing. I do not believe I have peaked just that I need to do something to reach that next level in my poker playing. So are books the way to go? Any book in particular one should read? If not, any other suggestions on improving my play beyond playing and observing?

Thanks,
Kdiz

Playing in Leaderboard Games has improved my tournament playing skills. There are a lot of good players here!

True that. I will make an effort to show up to some of those tournies. I part took in a few and had a good time. Really should play again

As for poker being all instinct. I partly agree. I feel I have the math part well in hand but maybe could use better strategy. I just feel my gut can only take me so far and that there is more I can apply, if not then I will just keep playing and pay more attention and better my game.

What they both said are correct, but there are 2 books that I think stand out above the rest. Don't knock books until you have read them. They are great for reference and can really step up your game.

The first one i ever read was Harrington on Holdem Volume 1. If you are a tournament player its a must have.

The second is any serious poker players bible so to speak; Brunson's Super System. I still have Super System 2 sitting here on my coffee table. I have yet to read it.

Recently I have been reading Kill Everyone which is the sequel to Kill Phil.

You can get all these books and may more in the LP Boutique. Luvin Poker Luvin Boutique

Both awesome books. Super System ("the Bible" quoting Jen) is by far the best book ever written.
If you are into live play, Caro's Book of Poker tells is great also. Unfortunately it doesnt apply too much for internet play. But you'd be amazed at what it can do for your live play. Read a few chapters and watch the Pro's on Tv and you'd be suprised at the ones you can spot out. Its great reading.
